hi, i have now an 328i e46 but im plannig to buy an e60, now im builiding my car pc, which consist of a modded asus eee, an 7" in dash touch screen and some other add ons, is it possible to fit somewhere in the center panel a 1 DIN in dash touch screen which has the size of a standard car radio? ive seen a storage place under the clima control, do you think that it would be possible to use somehow this place? and isnt the stick to high is it under this storage place? or its in front of?

maybe i could get somewhere a second panel like this and to modify it, so the screen would fit in, and then if im selling the car i could just replace it with the original part.

ive found a solution, that a guy connected his car pc to the standard monitor which is already in the car, but i dont want this type of solution. i want to keep the original functionality of all the things and add some new.

The i-drive/screen/radio are all integrated! If you use the search function there are several examples of upgrades.

im not sure if you know what my question was about, but i want to build a car pc(mininotebook with many mods(accelerometer, gps, connection with some car functionality) connected with an in dash touchscreen) the touchscreen should be somewhere where the driver has access and it should be also a little bit comofortable to control it. and the only place which ive found on the e60 is in the middle panel under the cd/dvd drive, in some models there is a storage place, and my question was, that if a touchscreen with the size of a classic car radio fits inside this place, or should i modify this front panel a little bit and then isnt the stick to tall, so the touch screen can drive out, without to touch the stick...

yes its possible for non nav vehicles , I have seen tons of E60's in Japan doing it, go to www.bmw5.net you can see some interesting interior mods of the e60
