I'm considering buying a used E60 (2004 or 2005) and wondering about performance mods like turbos, superchargers, headers, nitrous, flywheels, etc. Can I get the cheaper 525i (184hp) and build up the horsepower through modifications? Any tips on where to find this kind of information is appreciated. Thanks.

ODB, enjoy the forum but pls indicate your location in yur profile!

If you live in US, you can get a 545i and supercharge it!
You can reach easily over 500 HP with the only supercharger!

Sounds good, but the 545i is $10,000 more than the 525i. I'm wondering what the options are for pumping up the 525i.

Alex - When are you supercharging your car?

Alex - When are you supercharging your car?

Step by step, cmans!
Now I am boosting the car leaving it aspirated .
The major problem is that here there are tons of paper to do, to legalize the mod : a friend is attempting to supercharge his M5 E39 to 600 HP and it isn't so simple : you have to have a lot of time to waste!
Anyway, I will wait to drive his car

The second problem is that ESS Tuning (esstuning.com) didn't release the kit for the 545i yet .
And some people told me VF is not so reliable (some parts in plastic instead of metal and trouble with software) .

But there you could .. Buy and install it

Seriously .. The car has almost 400 HP on 1600 Kg .. 180 MPH are enough to travel
