About 1/2 price what the dealer charges, but they are not BMW parts. What would happen if it disintegrates or otherwise fails and causes engine damage? OOPS! There goes your warranty. Bottom line, not worth the risk. Maybe Bavarian Autosport: 11 42 7 512 300 Oil Filter - With Seal Rings for $7.95 would be a better choice.

+1. I would always choose BMW OE parts if under warranty. I change my oil probably 3+ times a year, due to heavy miles, so I would save what? ~$15 over the course of a year? I could probably scrape that out of the couch cushions... On the otherhand, I don't think I'd find enough in the couch to cover a void warranty major repair.

Check with the dealer, seriously. If you have a CCA membership, I've found that the discount actually makes it less expensive to buy from the dealer than some other places.

I price shop mainly between
Bavarian Autosport
BMA Parts
Pelican Parts

All are great companies who offer quality goods.

Pep Boys stocks the filters for the BMW's. It's a Purolator number something like L15720 (just guessing for the 530i). It is the same OEM filter (German) that BMW uses for $17.95. Otherwise bavauto has them but you have to buy about 6 at a time to come out on the price because of the shipping. The BMW dealer sold the last one to me for about $16.95.

+1 for bavauto... their prices usually pretty good for the Mann filters, and if you spend over $150 on other toys the shipping is free.
Thanks, sooner79 for the germanfilter link... that looks great too!
As for Ebay... I trust those listings for my beat up GMC van, but for my Bimmer I only want OEM (dealer) or Mann... wherever I can get a good deal.

Go the Purolator link: Click on the link under oil filter and you will get the photo and specs on the filter. Same as the one from the dealer.
