Planning to do an oil change on the 550 this weekend and thought of something. I just got a set of race ramps that get the car up pretty high 10" but it ends up a fairly significant angle. I am wondering what this will do to the drainage of the old oil? The pics of the oil pan I have seen makes it look like it is designed get the oil to the drain hole if on level ground.

Am I over thinking this or should I go through the extra effort of leveling it?

Thanks guys!

I jack up the car on one side, support it with a jackstand, open the drain plug, and then lower the car. That makes the car as level as possible.

Unfortunately the filter is not topside on a 550i so would be a lot of up and down. Will probably just jack up the rear and see how much more comes out.

In case anyone is wondering, all the old oil must have made it out, took 8.5 quarts. Did bother jacking the rear, just left it on ramps. Gotta say, having to go under the car for the filter is a pain. But might be worth the two extra cylinders.
