Low Coolant

I not sure what the problem is yet but my coolant light came own two week ago stating that I had to add more coolant so it was low and I added more coolant . Now two week latter I need to add more becuase it was low does anybody Know how I should I go about checking this out. I have not let the car run and look to see any leaks but does anyone know where I should start to check just to be on the safe side the car is not over heating I just get a low coolant message and it happen twice within the the past two and half weeks. I have and 06 530i thank you for any help.

This is not an uncommon problem. I had the same problem. Sometimes it's simply a loose connection between hose and expansion tank, you can try tightening the clamps. Often though, it is a small crack in the expansion tank. I replaced my expansion tank and hoses and that solved the problem. Usually a cheap fix.
