Any more comments on this? This seems like a much more cost effective alternative if the specs are the same.

thanks,

Hey KyleB truly grateful for your effort, true master. I have an 06 530i that I just picked up has 93k miles. Has the bumping symptom at every stop and yesterday I got a tranny code of 4F8B "EGS: Ratio Monitoring gearshift 5-6". Turned it off and back to normal no code yet, no other issue but the bump. So I read your clear instructional guide and was planning on doing the Mechatronic sleeve. My question is should I do the solenoids also? Was wondering if you took the valve body off wouldn't it have been better to take it apart and change the different pieces and gaskets including the separator plate? There is a pretty good video here:
My tranny like yours is the HP19 with a serial 1071-010029. So pretty much identical.
Thanks again and hope to hear from you.

The answer to the question about changing the solenoids is maybe, yes.

You can start with a fluid change and see if that helps. It is a good start.

If a fluid change doesn't help, then drop the valve body, change the solenoids and seals, button it up and see how it goes. This is what I ended up doing because the fluid change didn't fix the issue.

I opted not to rebuild the valve body with the Sonnax ZIP Kit and new separator plate. I didn't need to do so because my transmission works great after the solenoid and seal change. If I get any error codes or trouble in the future then I'll buy the kit and rebuild the valve body.

Thanks Txag Where did you get your parts, same place as in KyleB's guide? Also the fluid did you use whatever the original BMW recommends or equivalent >

The solenoids are the components that seem to be failing first and most often. I elected not to fully rebuild my valve body because solenoids fixed the problem. Frankly, if you're at the point where you think your entire valve body is shot, I wouldn't waste the time or energy rebuilding it. I'd just buy an already rebuilt replacement.

Hey KyleB thanks for responding I don't think I am at that point, just the 2-1 bump and the 4F8B code once. What fluid would you recommend to use and for the how many quarts should I buy? Also do you recommend changing the pan also?
Also wanted to ask if FEBI Automatic Transmission Fluid 5 Liter Container ATF1-5L 1058206 29738 Fluid is good enough for my 530i? I was thinking of getting 2x 5L bottles for 49.99 each shipped

Thanks

I've always used ZF Lifeguard6; it's the factory fluid that ZF and BMW fill these transmissions with. Others have had success with other fluids. The only reason I use the ZF fluid is to remove a variable from the equation should a problem arise. If something does go awry, I know it's not due to incompatible fluid.

If you have never changed your pan, then yes I would change it as the filter is embedded in the pan. Since you'll have the pan off, check to see your Mechatronic sealing sleeve isn't leaking; if it is, do it when you have the pan off.

I used Mercon SP. I bought the solenoids from thetctsc.com and the seals from somewhere else (rmeuropean.com or fcpeuro.com). Just be sure to get the genuine BMW or ZF parts for this operation.

Quick question how can I tell about the M-shift E-shift short of removing the pan. My tranny is the same as KyleB's 6hp19 and the number on the side is 1071-010029. Has Manual mode and sports etc? OnEbay a seller mentioned it's an M-shift with those numbers.
