Correct. If you don't have NAV you need additional programming even if you can play mp3 cd's

If you don't have NAV then only enabling mp3 won't make it work. there is another programming that needs to take place as well.

If there's one thing that pisses me off more than anything, it's an incompetent dealer, or a dealer that isn't bothered.

I just bought the OEM interface ( for cars with CDC ) and asked the dealer to install for me while they updated my 2006 model E60 M5. ( My car is a July 2005 build ). I just got a call from the technician saying that he couldn't install it because there's an "adaptor/connector" missing.

I am sure the interface kit comes with everything you need to just plug it into where the CD changer is.

When I asked him if the new software will enable the ipod feature, he couldn't answer.

Looks like another trip to the dealer tomorrow morning for lecturing.

I have a BMW 06 530i with only a single CD changer . I looked in the glove compartment where there is room to put and CD changer or the Ipod adpator box. I notices there is a plug inside the glove compartment with two wire going to it. Is this the place where I can connect the Ipod adapter to it? From there picture it look as if there are two more wire needed but I not sure becuase it look like it can plug right into the ipod adater. My question to anybody who is familar with this stuff is there anything else I would need to do as far as connecting the ipod adapter to the cars wiring ?

that's it. everything else is provided with the kit.

Hello,
I just bought a 2007 530i from the dealership. I was under the impression that I would be able to play mp3 format cds (compressed files) through the in dash cd player... i put one in and it just says "no readable disk"... i have navigation but no cd changer or ipod interface in the glove box.
Is there something I can do to be able to play mp3 cds through the cd player or is this not an option? If it is possible, can somebody please walk me through it? My car is still under warrenty for a few months if that matters.
