Hello All...

I'm in somewhat of a dilemma and wanted some input....i drove an M5 this 4th of July weekend...WOW!!! I feel instantly in love. Im in the market to purchase a pre-owned car right now but I think the M5 will be slightly out of my price range as the dealer prices I've been finding so far are all in the mid to high $40k range.

As a Plan B, I was looking to get a 550 and i found one that I really liked, with one exception, the DAM BROWN WOOD TRIM!!! i really hate it and was wondering...how easy and $$$$ would it be to get this changed to the gray-ish colored wood (i think its called anthracite)? i breifly mentioned this concern to the dealer who told me not to bother with it b/c it wouldnt be worth it, but the brown color bothers me so much that it would be a deal breaker.

Thanks

Here are pics of the 550

depends on where you get the new trim. I sold my anthracite trim for $400 and paid $600 for my M5 madeira trim. keep an eye on ebay or here to get whatever trim you want. dash is easy, doors aren't bad if you're comfortable removing door panels. I can do it in under an hour, but if you're not familiar with car interior disassembly it will take you longer. If you're the kind that has never worked on a car and expect the dealer to do everything for you, it will easily top $1000 to change the trim.

did you have any issues with the left side dash (left of steering wheel), the small vent piece?
i can't seem to be able to remove it, it wont come off...

If the black one is in good condition I think it's way a better deal. Besides, it's black...

you have to pry out the headlight switch first, then unscrew the vent from the dash to get that one out.

I swore I'd never buy black again, but given those two options, i'd go with the black one.

i agree with you on that one..very hard to maintain espcially in NC with all this dam pollen. but in this case it seems to be a no brainer

So the headlight switch will snap out and there will be a screw behind that holds the vent? and the black plastic piece below the wood trim (where the headlight switch is on), will that come out as well?

My Ride: My Bimmer's info is in my sig, so I'll tell you about my garage toy. It's a 1997 Porsche Boxster. The car is black on black and I have replaced every single thing on the car (interior, exterior, drivetrain, suspension) except for the sheet metal and the convertible top (both of which will be next I guess). I love my Pcar more than any other car I have ever owned and will probably keep it for the rest of my life. Porsche. There is no substitute.

I bought a CPO (100k BMW warranty) 2007 550i with just 15k on it in January for $38,000.

That wood is beautiful. It will grow on you if you give it time.
