Question

I looked at the DIY section and can not find any thread on installing springs yourself. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to install the springs myself.

Don't do it, have a professional do it.
You will need a compressor for this car, its not a Honda where you can just slap it on.

Here are the directions:

1. Locate local BMW dealer with E60 expert.
2. Call, make an appointment.
3. Get mapquest directions to BMW store.
4. Drive there, pay him, get a receipt for any problems, and enjoy.

Seriiously, it is a real job on E60 and E39. You don't want to do it.

I have done a spring swap for the E39, it was easy. All you do is unbolt the top three nuts on top of the strut tower and then unbolt the lower bolt on the strut and also the sway bar. Now you can take out the strut and use your spring compressor to remove the spring. Then put everything back in reverse steps. But the E60 has a clamp at the lower end of the strut which I do not know how to remove. That's where I need help with.

I just seen the pics of your car and it looks like you lowered it. What did you end up doing? Car looks great. What brand are the rims? Looks really nice. I also have a white E60

Thanks, finally gave in and paid to get the springs installed. I hate forking out $$$ when you can do it yourself (only if you have the knowledge) and abillity; which I have the latter. The rims are 20 inch Iforged areo, h&r springs rides pretty good for a lowered car (don't expect stock ride) he he.

Now that I had someone install the springs for me, I hear a little pop noise when I turn the wheel from parking. I had the shop that put them in look at it again and they said they tighten everything down. Thats why I hate paying for someone doing work that can be done yourself (only if I had the knowlede myself) and not having control of the quality of work. I am a hardcore believer in DIY just cause things like this piss me off.
