Well then - here is mine:
My dealer keeps telling me it can't be done...
I have a portable DVD-Player for use on 12V in the car, and a cooling box for 12V.
The cigarette lighter in the front ashtray (don't have any in the rear, just the one in the front ashtray and the power outlet in the trunk) just works when the key is in ignition. So, when I turn the engine off the power is shut down. It doesn't even stay on as long as the radio.
Question:
Is there any chance of putting the cigarette lighter on permanent power without causing errors, malfunctions, problems ???
It would be a also helpful to have it on as long as the radio stays on, what is one hour, when you turn the engine off and stay in the car.
But my dealer says this would cause immense trouble on the e60's system.
Any suggestions ? I have allready given up on it

So my dealer is right...
It's kind of annoying to have the key in ignition, just to have power for video or cooler, while waiting somewhere...

jmcaiado, i'm having a problem in one of the idrive functions. it's the parked car ventilation. when i'm in that function, i can't check on the box (you know there is a box next to each function that you can select). but it actually worked cuz i set it 10 minutes before i head back to the car and the fan was blowing air. let's make it short, i can set the time but i can't check the box. i went back bmw and asked the service advisor but he had no clue. he told me the technician couldn't figure out why. i think it must be one of the software problems again. do you have solution for that? also, does your cd include the instructions for how to change the foglight lightbulbs and the selector lever? please advise. i ordered a leather selector lever with wood inlay. i also ordered the chrome grille but i think they are too complicated for me to install. i'll leave them to the service guys. thanks in advance.

Set the time, the ventilation occurs on that schedule.
Choose "Parked Car Ventilation" when the key is in position 1, the ventilation occurs immediately (almost like the REST function in the winter time.)

rudy, the ventilation works but i just can't check the box next to "parked car ventilation". however i can check the box next to the time. that makes me wonder if i actually activated the feature or not. thanks for the instructions though.
