How to remove the vent control knobs?

I have noticed that on my 530, if the controls are set to manual for the vent (non advanced climate control), the windscreen mists up with the direction control set to the windscreen icon. If I move it 10 - 15 degrees clockwise, the screen demists. I assume that the control knob isn't in the right posiiton, and I wondered if anyone knows whether this is an easy diy fix? I have tried pulling at the knob, (oo-er missus), but I don't want to pull to hard in case it breaks.
Not a major problem, but irritating nontheless.
Also, is is possible to post a topic about knobs without degenerating into schoolboy humour??

Okay seriously, I'm not sure if pulling them out is a good idea. The entire switch assembly is one part number so if something breaks, you'll have to replace the whole thing (around $440). The knobs are probably controlling servos that move cables when you adjust something. It could be that the knob is fine (heh...heh) but the cable or servo control needs adjusting.

If the car is under warranty, maybe you can have the dealer fix it?

TOTALLY OFF TOPIC BUT JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT AFTER THE BITCHING THAT WENT ON RECENTLY ON THIS FORUM YOUR ''OO-ER-MISSUS'' COMMENT GAVE ME A GOOD OLE CHUCKLE. PRESUMABLY AS WELL AS BEING AN EXCELLENT SOURCE OF INFORMATION THIS FORUM SHOULD ALSO BE A LAUGH. I'M SURE SOMEONE WILL RETORT WITH SOME SERIOUS COMMENT BUT LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO HAVE A BRUSH UP YOU ASS!
NICE ONE. MUST GO AND CLEAN UP THE COFFEE I SPILT LAUGHING.
