how to remove the gear shifter?!

i have tried it... i have nearly destroyed it, but i dont goes away... i thought i would pull the gear box out...
i have something new instead---->> LCI

i almost knocked my tooth out last tiome i did it. LOL. It knocked my chin and my gums started to bleed.
