Yep - I took mine off too. You need a screwdriver and patience. The original emblem has three prongs at the 12, 3 and 9o'clock positions that hold it in place when the logo is level and directly facing you. It's tedious work and if you get crazy, you could leave a gash in your steering leather so be patient. The biggest advantage is that the roundel then sits and looks MUCH better as compared to putting it directly on top.

Remember -- all that do this -- these new roundels are not meant to shatter when the airbag deploys. In essence, these could become a projectile and come flying at you. My SA advised against doing this....I still did but eveyrone needs to be aware of the risks of this simple mod.

Hope this helps -- S

DO NOT TAKE IT OFF!!!! Just stick it over the original! Before joining this forum it was the first mod I did on my 5'er. I did the poke and pry and yanked it out. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER MADE!! You will see the holes from the original etc etc etc. It is the one thing that bugs me every time I see it! really need to get a replacement.
