The other night while driving home I drove through some spilled paint on the road. Now I have these small paint splatters along my side skirts and inside my mud guards. I tried removing them with a clay bar but they were too stubborn. What should I use? I hear someone say use gasoline or diesel to rub it off? Thanks for the help.

i've used gasoline before, and it works great.
could try something safer first, like paint thinner/mineral spirits.

No way I'd use paint thinner on our cars!! ... I'd begin with some WD-40 or Simple Green to see if it softens the paint splatter before moving to a mild clear coat-safe polishing compound. Finishing up with a good wax.

I'd go with a wire brush and a bucket of moist sand. It will be akin to vehicular exfoliation.

WD-40 might do the trick. You can also try a detailing claybar. I've used claybar to remove major overspray from my SUV before. No paint thinner please!! It will either smudge the clear coat or make it dull (depending on what type of clear coat our cars use).

paint thinner is not as bad as it sounds. i remember last year, and someone was coming to pick up a trailblazer ss my parents had for sale. i went over to help detail it, and i noticed that there was red overspray on the entire car. parents never noticed it, and you could only see it in the sun. the car was black. the new buyer was coming in a few hours so we didnt have time to take it back to the dealer, who had resprayed the rear bumper a month before, but obvioulsy didnt cover the vehicle while it was in the body shop.
we took some rags and mineral spirits, and the overspray came off somewhat easy. i'd recommend waxing afterwards.

one other time, my mom was not happy with the light scracthes on my dad's truck bed, so what did she do when he wasnt home one day? she sprayed the bed sides with a spray can, and this truck was only 3 years old. it looked horrible. on that one, i used acetone to remove the spray paint, and you couldnt tell it was ever sprayed. i wouldnt recommend acetone, unless you really need it. its very strong.

over the years i've used gas many times to rub off paint marks from cars either rubbing into other cars, or rubbing into garage door frames.
it sounds crude, but it works.

Looks like I will try WD-40 first. I saw in another post somewhere where they use this product called honda polish which one can buy in a motorcycle shop. What do you guys think about that.
