Hi,
I am a newbie here. I have a 523i, E60, 2008. Of late, I have been getting active steering initialising error msg which resets after driving a bit. I guess, the issue is the Voltage & current readings of the installed battery (not the OEM Version) being lower than that registered in the system). I believe that the original battery was replaced by another without being registered. So, when the generated amp is below that is registered, an error msg appears and few things are not initialised (eg. radio, active steering etc)when the car is started.
Can anyone tell me how to check the details of the battery that is registered in the system. I can then decide which battery to replace it with. BMW (in Sydney, OZ) has quoted around $850!!! for replacement. I think I can get the OEM battery for $349. There is another battery available (DIN85LMF) for $199. However, I suspect that the latter will have lower amp rating.
I would be grateful for any help. Thanks.

Is the battery same as the OEM specs (Ah, AMG/wet)? If not, then it's better to code it.
It could have been done through Vehicle Order:
Or maybe they changed it in the CAS module, under KLASSE_BATTERIE, options are:
46ah
55ah
70ah
80ah
90ah
110ah
40ah_agm
60ah_agm
70ah_agm
80ah_agm
90ah_agm
So you can check that if you have INPA or NCS.
I don't know how to check if it had been registered though.

Code:
E B046 BATT_46AH //46 Ah-Batterie E B055 BATT_55AH //55 Ah-Batterie E B070 BATT_70AH //70 Ah-Batterie E B080 BATT_80AH //80 Ah-Batterie E B090 BATT_90AH //90 Ah-Batterie E A070 BATT_AGM_70AH //70 Ah-AGM Batterie E A080 BATT_AGM_80AH //80 Ah-AGM Batterie E A090 BATT_AGM_90AH //90 Ah-AGM Batterie
46ah
55ah
70ah
80ah
90ah
110ah
40ah_agm

80ah_agm
90ah_agm
