My Ride: April 2007 520D M Sport LCI. Automatic. Sunroof. BMW Bluetooth. Deep Sea Blue Metallic, Natural Brown Leather.

Apologies if this has been posted before - I searched but could only find reference to Halogen -> Xenon upgrades.

I have a 2007 520D with 'Projector Beam' headlight units with Halogen bulbs. I find the dipped beam is absolutely crap.
I have previously upgraded dipped & main beam bulbs on an E46 with aftermarket bulbs from Powerbulbs.com, with great results.

Has anyone done this on a non Xenon LCI? If so, was it worth it? Also, any instructions on bulb removal and replacement would be appreciated as it looks like there is not much room to do this.....

Thanks.

I did just that, I bought "Philips Xtreme" bulbs which seem to be the best H7 halogens according to 2 tests I've read.
I initially installed just 1 of them and compared them to the BMW original ones (brand unknown, I couldn't read anything on these bulbs).

To be honest, the difference was marginal. Still, I think the light output is OK now.

I installed xenons before (had them in my previous car and I miss them) but due to the warnings I got and the blue-ish light (I don't like it) I went back to halogens. I have a post about the xenon retrofit on this forum somewhere.

Good luck.

It's supersimple, takes less than 5 minutes to swap bulbs. Open the cover, turn the connector + bulb 90 degrees, replace bulb and that's it.
