OK. So I only got this car about a month ago, also my first BMW, also MY first car, and so this is my first DIY. I hope it is decent enough, to help any that would have had the same problem, although I think it is rare. This DIY would also be helpful for anyone with a bad fuel injector. Sorry about the pictures, clearly done with a phone, but I think they get the job done.

The Problem: Leaky Fuel Rail
Solution: New Fuel Rail installation
Part #: 13537542541
Cost: I paid $152.22 CAD, although I think it can be had for cheaper on the net, hard to find part though, easiest to acquire through a dealer.

Step 1 ? Remove the engine cover. I will refer you to this post if you need the info for this step. :
Engine Cover Removal

Step 2 ? Remove metal frame that cover screws into, this should just pull off, no screws.

Step 3 ? Disconnect the Fuel line from the fuel rail. Use an old margarine container or something to catch any fuel that drains out after disconnection. To disconnect you pull the black plastic part forward and then push the metal part back.

Step 4 ? There are 4 bolts that hold the fuel rail in place, remove them, takes a 10mm socket.

Step 5 ? This is where I thought things would be a little easier than they were, thought I could just pull the rail off the injectors and then pop the other one on...not that easy. Those injectors were too tight. You have to disconnect the injectors. They come away quite easily after removing the gold clip, I used some needlenose pliers so I didn?t drop the clips into the engine bay.

Step 6 ? Now the injectors and fuel rail should be able to be pulled right out. Once out it will be easier to pull the injectors out of the rail. There are silver clips that need to be removed, and kept. Once the clips are off the injectors should pull out, might just take a good grip, mine were quite tight. Put the injectors in the new fuel rail with the clips and begin reassembly.
- Reconnect injectors
- Reconnect gold clips on injectors
- Insert injectors back into engine
- Bolt Rail back in
- Put engine cover frame back on
- Put engine cover back on

Voila, all done.
I hope this was helpful, if anyone has any tips or suggestions feel free to post. I won?t be hurt, I am a newbie...I did my best and it worked for me, no more gas smell in the cabin.

Preventive Maintenance: Service Fuel Injectors
 

Hey guys,

My car is a 2006 530i with approximately 80,000 miles.

I am thinking about replacing new filters, upper and lower O-rings for the injectors.

Unless you can recommend better alternatives, please let me know if this method is acceptable for our cars:
