I've not done this but . . .
Try routing the cable forward and towards the centre console.
The carpet strip that is under the centre console, but above the string vest pocket just slides out. This will reveal a screw.
Undo the screw and it then may be possible to route the cable behind the centre console plastic, on the transmission tunnel, then poke the plug up to the ashtray holder. You can get the ashtray holder out without removing the console trim, but you need a small screwdriver bit and a small spanner to turn it, as well as a bit of patience, to get the front screws out of the ashtray.
Otherwise, remove the dash trim (which involves the horizontal trim across the dash coming off to reveal mounting screws for the vertical section). this will give you a route to furkle a wire from the glove box, under the CD player and to the ashtray.

Have you got one on Sport??
Sorry, I'm not familiar with the 6 series, but having a glance at the TIS, you haven't got the carpet trim panel to slide out on the 6. Perhaps if you took off the panel under the glove box, then you could see about getting the cable between the carpet and the centre console.
