Hi All,

This is my first DIY so go easy.

On Diesel models "Increased Emissions" can be a hole host of things, In my case it was only the EGR Valve.
So been tight with money & out of warranty I decided to have a bash at it and it worked.

The attached PDF has instructions and picture so you can print them off.

I know that E46 diesel have the same type EGR valve, I would guess that it the same for most of the BMW Diesel range.

FYI My car is a UK E60 530d, I can't see why US car would be any different.

Please feel free to comment

Lewis

This is exellent, thanks for taking time and effort to document this. Have you noticed any performance differences or less smoke?

I haven't notice any real change. my smoke's under heavy boost from the remap, under normal driving there's no smoke.
I don't think that anyone would notice a difference under normal driving, maybe on a dyno.
The main reason for this was to get rid of the error on the Idrive.

Thanks for your reply.

Thanks mate.

I changed my intake manifold the other week, and suddenly this error appeared. It turns out I had forgot the vacume hose (blue and black striped), but when I furst inspected the engine again I di this as well. Mine was way more clogged than yours on the pictures. It saved my day (and a bunch of money).

thanks again
