EARLY E60 IPOD INSTALL ACTUAL TIME
#1
OK I have an early build E60 9/25/03 I called BMW North America to see if the IPOD Retrofit would work on my car
they stated it would not and i would be unable to hook up the ipod to the car. Well I tried it anyways and i found out that BMWNW does not Know shit.
Things i Found out
1. As long as your car is CD Changer prep
you can code the car for the IPOD module and I have the original TCU (did not need to replace it)
2. Actual install of the module on early E60 does not require you to remove the glove box
3. Install of actual Ipod module takes about 15-20 minutes and this is by someone who is not a BMW technician (me)
4. Coding takes exactly 1 hr ......I watched the computer as it coded the car So anybody saying it takes 20-45 min is wrong only 3 and 7 series have quick coding
5. Dealers charging 1 - 2 hrs for coding is fair anything more and they are ripping you off
6. Savage BMW in ontario california charges 3 hrs coding thumbs down to them
Assael BMW wanted to charge me 900+ to install dont bother with them
Pacific BMW wanted to charge me 2 hrs to code which is fair but they are dumb asses so i passed on them
New century bmw said it would cost 1 hr labor to code the car but also mentioned it may take more time they
seemed to be the best bet

Thanks for info.
I contacted Shelly BMW in California. They quote me $299 plus tax for the parts. And they cannot give me the labor hours until they get to it. So I was confued on how much I should expect to pay.
