I decided against M5 mirrors due to cost and the fact it's not an M5 (although the 530d does have more torque than a V10 now ;) )

As usual, Teddy @ SSDD sorted me out with these little fellas, and the good boys at KG had them sprayed and delivered to me.

I couldn't find a guide for fitting after market mirrors, so documented the process for your delectation!

Hope it is of use :)

Thank you for sharing. Great description. The new side mirrors just transforms the e61.

ok question. I was given a pair of aftermarket m5 mirrors that are autofold and come ready and all. But they weren't plug and play so i took them apart. I want to know if i can use the OEM parts as you did in this same situation.?? thanks

I can't see why not - if you are using your existing motor and loom, you shouldn't need any recoding done.

Nice DIY, except I was slightly taken aback that you cut the plugs of the mirrors. They are easily removed by simply removing the crimps from the plug and then rejoining the plug again.

Aha! Wish I'd known that - never mind, I'm quite capable with a soldering iron ;)

scorcher my question is once I disconnect the battery and complete the whole mod and re-connect the battery will my car start as usual must I do this somewhere that has a coding expert... I went to my bodyshop where I had work done on my car and they said if I disconnect the battery that once I connected it I would have to leave the car To get reprogramed?? Is this true or not I'm ready to do this mod I just don't want any surprises
