Funny joking guys

Good Idea: I'll rent it.
But only if you pay for the postage

I think, it's cheaper to take a saw and make it yourself!

I'm having some trouble with my upgrade. I'm trying to change the standard phillips speakers in my 530d e60 to some aftermarket ones. (not sure which ones i'll be ordering just yet)
I've followed your instructions however i did forget to disconnect the battery at the start. Now my airbag light is on and will not go off. i have tried disconnecting/reconnecting the battery but thats made no difference. i disconnected the battery, took the door trim off and checked the airbag connection which is fine but still the warning light is on.
Any ideas? I'm hoping i dont have to take it to BMW!

Also on a different note, i've noticed that my car doesnt have any tweeters installed. however the cable that comes out of the tweeter hole in the front door trims just plugs into what i presume is the preamp in the door? can you confirm if its this wire that needs connecting to the new tweeters, or do i need to connect the tweeters to the preamp somehow?
the rear speakers do not have tweeter cables (that i can locate), so do i need to install a cross over from the rear speaker cable to split out the tweeter?

I don't have any need, now, to remove my door panels.

But this is amongst the most informative and interesting threads I have read on the E60.net

Thanks to all.

It almost makes me want to go out and tear into it!

Sorry, Only dealer can remove the error. Or any specialist with similar equipments. There is no DIY-way to kill airbag warning.

You can buy Hi-fi tweeters from dealer. They are quite cheap actually, something like 50Eur. Just install tweeters and connect wires to mid-range speakers, which have connectors ready. Tweeters comes with required cables.

Hi All

Great instruction , BUT !!!

As showen in the first pitcure , do NEVER dismount + (power) pol first !!! , ALWAYS take off the - (ground) Pol FIRST , when you dismount the + (power) pol first you risk that your tool can get in contact with the cars chassis and you make a short-cut + to - ( power to ground ) , you yourself can be serius heart and the car battery can explode !!! , this risk is NOT present if you always remember to disconect the - ( ground) pol first.

( it say's it's self that the car electronic can be serius damaged as well )

This just to information and warning , so nobody get's heart or car's get damaged

This is absolutely true (and illustrated in the battery disconnect .pdf document posted in my link earlier in this thread.) Actually, unless you're removing the battery completely -- which is not needed for the door trim panel removal process -- you only need to disconnect the negative terminal to perform service tasks.

Be safe everyone!
