There was definitely fine metal shavings on the old pan magnets. I should add those pictures to the DIY. It might be important info to help people decide.

RmEuropean. They sell the filter and the fluid.
Just to add, I did a 2nd drain and fill and got 4.5 liters out. Most fluid in the transmission at this point should be new.
Regards.

How long did you let it run for the second change? I like your 944. I had a 87 red 944s. Great car.
I did the same thing, timed myself for 5 minutes and then opened the fill plug and pumped fluid in until it started to drain.
It took about the same as what I drained out so I knew it was pretty close.
Regards.

Great info. For an accurate transmission temp reading after warmup use the Inpa/Ediabas software
To get all the fluid out on other vehicles you can remove the return line to the transmsission. You then drain, clean and change the filter, put the pan back up and fill. Start the car and as the fuid cirulates instead of going back into the tranny you put it in a pan. Pump a quart or two out then refill and repeat until the fluid changes color. Reattach the return line and there you go, all the fluid is changed.
Would that work on our cars?

Did you have to replace any seals or sleeves when reattaching the trasmission line?
Regards.
