Piece of wood is 2x10, 12-inch long, cut at 45-degree. Wood is used for getting on ramps and for raising vehicle so floor jack can fit under vehicle, especially for winter wheel swaps.

Oil change is easy for 6-cylinder, not sure about 8-cylinder or M vehicles.

Set up oil pan, 17mm socket, Philips screwdriver and ramps. Drive around for two, three minutes to warm up oil. Get on ramps (set parking brake, chock rear wheels), release plastic cover and remove oil drain plug and let oil drain for about 10 minutes. Wrap shop rag around oil filter housing, crack open oil filter housing (36 mm socket) to help engine oil drain better. When oil slows down to a dribble, remove oil filter housing completely (shop rag should catch any spill - should not have any at this point). Install new oil filter element and O-ring. Reinstall oil drain plug, put new oil in. Wipe off oil drain plug. (Check for parking brake, Park, Neutral, etc.) Start engine and let run about about one minute. Check for oil leak around oil plug and oil filter housing. Shut-off engine. Reinstall plastic cover for oil drain plug, and drive vehicle off ramps to a level spot. Wait one minute (let warm oil settle), check oil level.
