Has anyone tried an external fix to stop leaking MECHATRONIC sleeve ?
Anything someone has tried sucessfully?

Perhaps an aftermarket 3.0 mm thick compressable ring of some type to fit under twist connector ?

DIY replacement of sleeve thread is excellent, but not having to replace sleeve it would save time & $$$$$
Just being a NE Yankee !

Thanks, great site!

Hi

Doing my own Sleeve replacement on a Ford but has the same gearbox as you guys.

I have a small problem, i've pulled down the locking tab and now i cannot budge it to move it back up either with the sleave in place or not. It appears its locked out. Could that be the case?

It is a tricky process. It is not locked out just have to turn it just as it came out. Be careful not to break anything. Do you mind enlightening other member where you picked up your mechatronics sleeve for the Ford? I know on the Lincoln, Jaguars and a few other vehicles they have the same tranny but didn't know about Ford. Which model and year is it for?

I had the same issue. Except I was working on a 335xi. Wow, what a horrible job if it doesn't go very smoothly. There is very little room to get to the mechatronic connector, but I was able to do it without removing the transfer case or unbolting the transfer case from the body. You need a large selection of screwdrivers, allen wrenches and small hands to do the job.

Back to the issue. I ended up dropping the valve body as I was so perplexed why it wouldn't lock. The key looked as if it were seated properly looking through a mirror. It was just about 3mm, but the lock would not push in. I reluctantly removed the mechatronic sleeve again. I ended up dropping the valve body to check it out.

All I can tell you is that once I removed the valve body I was able to get the lock no problem. It seems the two small ears on the sleeve unlock the latch.

I reassembled the trans using the guide at ctc and this time the mechatronic sleeve inserted no problem. I ended up using the wooden handle of a wire brush and leveraging off a transmission ear to get it seated. It took that closer look to understand the issue and have the confidence to fix it properly.

For the XI, I recommend using the L end of a 8mm allen wrench as the tool to rotate the mechatronic lock. I was able to grab it and carefully rotate it around.

Note that the ear inside the mechatronic sleeve does not point at 6:00 down. It is more the 5:00 position.

Once the mechatronic sleeve is fished out, I was able to use a pry bar and clearance enough space to get the old sleeve out through the crack and put the new one in.

Hope these notes help!

if you don't have a lift for this, it can take forever to do. You will be working in a very small space. Just had mine done a few months ago. I was watching the dude do it.

It worked out easy in the end, I didn't push the sleeve in far enough so I levered it in further and the clip pushed straight in, perfect

I went on the site he mentioned and found the following: (keep in mind, these Part numbers may be unique to that website so I wouldnt depend

-Sealing Sleeve with O-rings for Auto Trans Valve Body(Mechatronic); 24-34-7-588-725
-Seal(adapter Gromet) for auto trans valve body(mechatronic)-Valve body to pump; 24-34-7-588-759

Yes, there is a clip you must pull with the pan removed to remove the sleeve.

i did replace the valve .i did a transmision fluid change and i still have this problem :

i have almost same problem..
still have like a "metal bang right under the center console.under the car" when i press hard the gas pedal .esspecialy from 5-6. gears
lets say i cruise in D at 80mph at 2800rpm(6th gear)..then..if i have to pass fast i punch the gas pedal..and the car goes in 5th gear ,raise to lets say 6krpm..and then in 1 second change to 6th gear and goes back in 5th(this happen also on DS and on M5-M6)..((

WHAT THIS CAN BE???
i think the only answer for our problems only DEALER CAN answer..witch will cost us $$$
