You can read about it in Motor Trend's 2004 radar detector review:

Read some online review. The common results is that they are not as effective as they claim to be plus they are illegal and may/will get you in big trouble. I opted for the top of the line on Radar detectors, the V1. I was able to nicell conceal it next to the mirrow and hardwired to the mirror power. The radar only goes on when I start the car and it is kind of hidden. For someone from the outside to notice it will have to kneel down in a funny angle or stick their heads inside the car which no cop will do.
So far so good, no pulled overs but a lot of butt saves...

Yes, please post photos of the V1 install. Can you also provide details of how you tapped into mirror's power. Which wires, etc.

thanks!

Don Juan,I'm not sure and you may wish to double check, but I
think your V-1 works like my Passport 8500 in that the front and
rear laser/radar sensors both need unobstructed views of the road to
pick up signals. If not I'd like to see pics of your set up so as
to try it out. :)

The radar has no obstructions and is very accurate. Did I say very.accurate. I had the same setup in my 330Ci, so it was a matter of try with a voltimeter which wire had the juice. Now I don't have to worry of taking it down or hiding it for cops or thieves

Tonite will take some pictures of my setup and the wire connection.
