Let us know how you make out with it!

The SAT was an option on 530i upwards and not on the 525i in the UK, however realoem does show both options so maybe it was available in other european countries. I have just purchased a 2008 SAT steering wheel so I do hope I can get this to work.Realoem E61 LCI 525i

I suppose it comes down to which tranny sits in your vehicle. I know it works on the ZF 6HP26 TU. I dont know whether the ZF 6HP19 TU is identical and just have a lower torque rating?

Great that there's a fresh, condensed on this super mod which even contains a how-to on coding. Excellent.

A couple post mod comments:

1) I have a read a couple references in BMW literature as as from other members that paddles are an official optional component. If we can determine that is true then we should be able to suport the mod even better via the correct vehicle order.

2) I think the steering in sport mode has always felt too hard to be correct (but NavarroOne sure likes it just the way it is). Navarro took a test drive in a car with factory SAT and mentioned the steering was different so it seems I need to find how to properly code for the correct steering behavior. I do wonder how it is handled between cars that have active steering and those that do not??

I still have the paddleshift steering wheel in my lounge and am no futher in making this mod happen. The probelm is that I have the 6HP19 TU gearbox and I am unable to confirm that this mod is possible. I have a quote from my dealer for the shifter and trim pieces etc which is £350 and this is within my budget, however I dont want to buy the parts if it wont work.
Does anyone have any more info on this? I am getting desparate now.

Thanks

Ian

Hi. I'm installed a M5 steering wheels with shift pads and my car is e60 Lci from 09-2007. I've read this post and i'ts very very interesting 'cause i think is the only way to fit the M5 paddles in this car... don't you?

One thing I've always wondered is what the Sport button does? I know my car has the DS mode that can be turned on from the stick, but no actual button. Are they the same thing or two entirely different creatures?

On the original thread, there's an exhaustive description of the differences. But basically hitting sport gives you faster shifting (200 ms), increased throttle response and a heavier weighted steering.

Fun fact... an eye blink takes about 300-400ms

Question : is it also necessary to edit the FDC -Dynamic Driving Controlfunction- by coding SAT in a LCI to have full function of the sportbutton ?
