Confirm information?
Just got my 2008 535i with sport package (no Sport Automatic Transmission (SAT) or paddle shifters) and just joined the forum. Thanks all for the information here.
I am very interested in the SAT (quick shifting and rev matching) but of course want to do it as economically as possible. I don't care about the paddle shifters or the updated shifter look. The information from the OP is laid out well but I just wanted to confirm that there are no more recent updates to that info. Questions I still have are:
1. I know the SAT ECU (PN 61319165671) is required but is the SAT shifter (PN 61319142950) required too or does it just look nicer? Will the non-SAT shifter work on the SAT ECU?
2. Is the Sports button (PN 61319142869) replaceable with the "Sports button Hack" (i.e. connecting the momentary switch between pins 8 and 10?)
Thanks!

My Ride: 535I twin turbo basic for most part.. FAST

One major aspect this retrofit is missing is reprogramming the actual transmission module. The sports auto and standard auto have different software.
Using WinKFP, I flashed my standard auto (in a 535xi) to the sports auto software (in the case of the 535i, it's 7601458 as of Ista/P v41.. may have changed in newer releases). I had to clear a few errors in the DSC, EGS ,and DME, but after that the car had no complaints.
The transmission still works, and it feels like it shifts faster, particularlly in S and M modes. It's also a lot more aggressive about downshifting in S mode. I did *not* change my VO, nor did I recode my KOMBI (partly because $2TB was never an available option for the xi models). However, my KOMBI is behaving differently now; when I'm in S mode, it displays the gear the car is in instead of just simply showing "DS" - I will probably try adding $2TB and see if my KOMBI accepts it.
I have not retrofitted the sports shifter (yet), so I have not been able to test the actual sport button. But even without it, it's a pretty nice upgrade. And it does seem to work properly on the xi despite it never being available officially on the RWD models.
EDIT: Well the car did accept the $2TB VO without complaint, and I was able to recode the KOMBI without issue. The FSW_PSW does show changes, but I cannot say I actually notice anything different with the recoded KOMBI.

I know its not the right forum but I have an X5 and trying to find SAT firmware that will work on it!)
This is my car according to Ista/d and bimmerarchive (Prod. Date 2009-12-13):
“ 2008-01-2010-02/FF03/X5/3.0sd/SportsActivityVehicle/M57D30T2/210kW/All Wheel-Drive/left/USA "
And this is ID of transmission and current soft:
( HW-7605219 SW-7608706 )
I did my research in "GKE195.ATS" file from "E89" Daten (version 60.1) files! It looks like GKE195.ats file from E70 looks the same, also im not sure if i should redownload any DATEN from other body styles that listed below and check this gke195.ats file in them for different information. Following body abbreviations from bimmerarchive.org i found only few vehicles that have the same M57 engine (NOT sure about transmission hardware part) that have 2TB option so im thinking they have SAT firmware. Still researching this hard.
2006-05 - 2010-01/EA71/635d/Coupe/M57D30T2/210kW/Rear-Wheel Drive/left/Europe
From GKE195.ATS file = “EA71;;2TB;7592148;SE”
2005-11 - 2009-12/NX91/535d/Sedan/M57D30T2/210kW/Rear-Wheel Drive/left/Europe
From GKE195.ATS file = “NX91;;2TB;7592134;SE”
Is option 2TB automatically comes with SAT? None of the Diesel AWD M57 cars that i found had option 2TB!!!?(
PLEASE advise.
Doing my own research on other forums, thread are left unanswered:

Successfull retrofit
So the last post on this thread was a year ago, but i wasn’t aware of it until a couple of weeks ago. I was curious about fitting the SAT shifter purely for the aesthetics so started googling around and came across this thread. I already had a bit of experience with ncs-expert. So with the info from this thread i used winkfp to flash my gearbox with a 2TB file and coded the necessary modules with ncs-expert. To gain sport function over and above DS mode i wired in the switch behind the fusebox. So i haven’t changed any hardware except the addition of a button but i believe i have full functionality. S1-S5 in DS mode and sport in the display when button pressed, the difference when pressing the button is remarkable. So now i have to get some money together to buy the proper hardware and maybe a new paddle equipped steering wheel. Purely for aesthetics.
