This is the BMW socket / female connector for the H8 light bulb. I broke the clip on the left side of the picture.

A couple of questions:
1) What is the part number of this connector? I checked RealOEM 61 15 Diverse Plugs and Connectors and do not see this H8 connector.
2) Can the pins be removed with a tool and inserted into the new connector? There appears to be some play / movement of the pins in the connector when I pushed the wires.

I had just parked the car (engine bay and headlight assembly still warm) and removed the connector and caused the clip to break. It is just below freezing temperature here. I suppose the plastic cool off very quickly.

I could use an aftermarket H8 connector but would like to try the OE connector first. Here are a couple of water-resistant aftermarket H8 connectors:

The BMW / OE H8 light bulb socket connector can be disassembled.


There is one compression metal tab on each side of the pin and the top of the socket housing must be lifted open for the pins to be pulled back from the socket. A friend helped me figure this out.

The original non-weatherized contacts from the vehicle should fit fine into the BMW / OE connector.

This may help identify the OE connector, it is actually the BMW H8 bulb connector. The gray connector with the orange and yellow wire:


The current BMW H8 bulb connector is part 61132360041.


A generic H8 bulb connector or repair kit should also work.
