BMW has a fire extinguisher and bracket for the E60 but the fire extinguisher is not available in the US and if you order it online it will be denied after your BMW parts supplier tries to order it because it is restricted. If you try and get someone overseas to order and ship it, they won't be able to by air because they must be ground shipped.

This extinguisher installed here is a premium "clean agent" fire extinguisher that does not leave a messy residue making it the perfect product for protecting classic collector, high performance, tuner, and race cars. AND it is very nice looking unit. ---Linky...

I ordered mine from Jegs. If you live near others interested in this extinguisher, I recommend you organize and order multiples in a single shipment. There is a hazardous material fee tacked on to the shipment and it seems to be the same whether you order 1 or more. I ordered 2 and paid $38 to ship and it was the same if I ordered 1. I entered 4 into the order form and got the same $38 fee.

I used the BMW bracket (item #2 in the pic) and you can find here: http://parts.bmwofso...2270142649.html

 Nice! Thanks- I'll be installing mine (I'll get the red one) on the driver's seat.

Best price online.

Here is where I mounted a fire extinguisher. It hasn't moved and I tried to make it move on California Hiway 36. Google CA Hiway 36. 140 miles of turns! Anyway, I digress.
The extinguisher is easy to get to and you can mount whatever kind you want. I pulled the liner out to put a nut on the back side and to be sure I didn't drill into anything important.
PS, I left my rear tire tread somewhere on 36, let me know if you find it! LOL

I think i am going try and flip the unit so the head points the other way. The way the buckle is oriented pointing down is easier to unsnap from the driver seat the way it is now but my wife has already snagged it with her purse and unbuckled it. I might also try a simple rubber strap looped over the buckle to make it take just a little more effort to unbuckle it.

If you want this European accessory - Fire Extinguisher and Bracket (fits under either front seat - 72600000335/82270142649 - about $135. It even has its own owner's manual and it is huge! You can order them from Otto's BMW, Ottawa. Ask for Bob in the parts dept. Phone - (613) 725-3048 or Fax at (613) 260-1160. Bob has shipped many "Euro" parts to US owners who can't get them in the US. If you just want an email quote, send a note to Bob's manager (Rick), at rcaine@bmwottawa.com

Great write up. If I'm not mistaken, I believe it should be on the drivers side.
Since you did such a nice job, what have you done for a spare tire, you do have run flats don't you?

I'm thinking I don't like the idea for the driver side too much. If it were to come out of the bracket some how then it it could get lodged under the brake pedal.

If I use the much higher quality bracket from H3R they use for racing then I I would be OK with that.

I kept my spare in the trunk even with runflats. Now however I am running some new Mich Pilot Super Sports and the spare has the same outside diameter so I keep it with me.
