In case you didn't read how I got to this step see http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=37190&st=0

Parts needs:
http://www.expansys.com/zoompic.aspx?type=item&i=140720 (only bought the holder from ebay not the kit)
http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=144681 (bought mine from ebay)
http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=138248 (bought mine from ebay)
And the old blank plate that covers the cradle connector.

The discarded bits

Nice! Do you know it's the same connections as for HTS P3600? And does the external antenna work?

I think its the same for all the new HTC products.

http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/12755.htm shows that it is compatible. I've not yet got the aerial linked up as yet. Will do that this weekend.

these are in the individual section of realoem

nice job bruce, progress being made i see.
i have been thinking about the mute.and wondered if it was possible just to program the button on steering wheel to mute the audio?
but if you just want to mute by switch there are a lot of switches out there, maplin rs etc of course and cheeper than bmw oem.
but is it a off /on -rocker or push fit.?
then maybe a switch in the lower front consul; is a cheeper option but harder to fit ,than the roof headlining option.
i was looking for the switch that is next to the light control switch above cubbyhole, and a fog light switch in place of the head up display on/off switch might be an option.
any way posted are some options.maybe the sliding roof switch which i think ishold to work type but could be disasembled im sure usuall only a ball or lug in side them to restrict contacts movement.

Its not the audio into the car that I want to mute, its the mic pick-up that needs to be muted i.e. I'm building a secrecy option. I attend a lot of conference calls and quite often am sitting for hours without saying anything but all the while the other parties need to put up with motorway traffic and road noise.

i see ,then surely you need some sort of a vox circuit in the mic input,i wonder if that might be more usefull. rather than switching manually.
go on to the ARRL or rsgb web sites, have a look on search google for a circuit for vox(voice activation) ill have a look about for idea if any good.

Nice job Bruce im really interested in this diy, but i only want to extend my aux from the glove to the cradle compartment under the armrest. do you have some more detail or in depth photos from that part of your diy. If the task proves to be to difficult I was just thinking about getting a really long aux cable and somehow route it to the cradle without exposing any wire
