Please let me know what this part (marked with re circle) is? It
looks as coolant leaks from under it. Thanks.

your best bet is to ask the people at E46fanatics because all their cars have the same engine with cooling system problems.

Looks like thermostat housing to me ...

I second that this is the thermostat. I just had both the thermostat and the water pump replaced cuz both were found to be leaking. Replacement cost for both parts were less than $600. Depending on how bad the leak is you could probably go awhile as long as you keep an eye on the coolant level. However, seeing that your original post was in April, I'd get it fixed now if you havent already.
