I have found a large allen wrench plug on the bottom of the ZF gearbox in this 1994 E34 525ix, I cannot find the filler plug. Anyone got the appropriate diagram as I am finding it impossible to find.

btw the way I did use the search feature (advanced) using 525ix and transmission as tags. The car is not mine, it belongs to my father in law.

I hope I have not wandered into another oppressive do-gooders who like to talk about it forum, remember these forums are on the internet to help!

I recall on the E34 530 V8 I once had, the auto gearbox incorporated a combined filler and level plug situated in the upper part of a tube in the pan towards the front. Refilling (after draining) involved pumping new fluid up over the level / filler hole, and the engine had to be running and the fluid temperature at correct amount to get the right level.

I left this to a trusted 'indy'.
