Can i reset "Vehicle Check" by myself?

Absolutely brilliant - thank you so much for this information.

I would not use it to avoid a statutory inspection or a maintainance item like oil or brakes. However, to pay ?200 to BWM to 'look' at my 3 yr old car and tell me that its fine just makes me laugh. My car will soon tell me if something is wrong and I'll have to pay for it to be fixed either way. I asked the dealer's what it was all about and what would I get for my money - I was told in a non-too-patronising way that it was not like buying a peice of clothing or having a regular service and that I would not have anything tangible to show for my money - just piece of mind. Piece off ....
