The accelerator pedal in the kit replaces the following accelerator pedals:
35406766931 Accelerator pedal module, manual gearbox
35426789999 Accelerator pedal module, manual gearbox
35426786288 Accelerator pedal module, stainless steel inlay (older)


The rubber pads in the kit replaces the following pads:
35211160422 Rubber pad, brake
35211108634 Rubber pad, clutch

Instructions
  • Rubbing alcohol and Q-Tips for lubrication, small flat-head screwdriver and hex bit driver #5.
  • Move seat rearward to increase work space, remove floor-mat, optionally run the vacuum to clear the area of debris.
  • Locate base of accelerator pedal assembly and one small circular plastic cap on the base; use small flat-head screwdriver to carefully pry off and remove plastic cap.
  • Use hex bit driver #5 to remove exposed bolt.
  • Carefully lift accelerator pedal module upward to remove it, but it will not move much due to a short wiring harness. Note how the accelerator pedal module fits onto an upper metal tab and a lower hole on the floor.
  • This part you will have to use feel, as line of sight is limited: follow the wires from the vehicle to the wiring connector. On both (narrow) sides of the connector, gently press the locking levers to wiggle and release the connector from the accelerator module. Be patient to avoid damaging the connector or the wiring.
  • When the complete accelerator pedal module is removed, one may wish to clean around that area with a toothbrush and vacuum.
  • Position the new accelerator pedal module close to the mounting location and connect the wiring harness to the accelerator pedal module. You may hear or feel clicks as the connector locking levers slide past the retaining tabs on the accelerator module pedal. After pushing firmly on the wiring connector, wiggle it gently without pressing on the locking levers to ensure that the connector is locked and will not come loose.
  • Position the accelerator pedal module over the upper metal tab and the floor hole and move it downwards to lock into position. Install the single retaining bolt to hand-tight and place the plastic cap over the bolt. Verify that the acccelerator pedal module is locked in place and will not wiggle (other than ever so slightly).
  • Brake pedal: Peel the old pedal pad off beginning from the bottom.
  • Locate the new pedal pad. Soak a Q-Tip in rubbing alcohol and run it on the back of the pedal pad along the inside border.
  • This helps lubricate the pedal pad while one is trying to slip it on the pedal.
  • Place the top right corner of the pedal pad onto the pedal, ensure that the top lip and right lip fit over the the pedal, then firmly apply some force to slip the bottom left hand corner of the pedal pad onto the pedal. With some practice, the new pedal pad will "snap" into place, and all four lips of the pedal pad will fit over the pedal. During multiple attempts, keep the back of the pedal pad lubricated using an alcohol-soaked Q-Tip.
  • Repeat the process for the clutch pedal.
  • Somehow, installing the new pedal pad on the clutch pedal is harder. Have more patience.

There is a two-pedal kit for automatic transmissions. Look for pedal kit 35000410100. Note that the accelerator pedal module for manual transmission do not have the kickdown switch. Most accelerator pedal module for automatic transmission requires a kickdown switch. The brake pedal pad is also larger for vehicles with automatic transmission.
