1 first measure ohm at firing terminal if has ohms . just don't cut the wire add 10 ohms resistor parallel
with the wire

2 if your firing circuit has no ohms . just cut the wire and add a 2.8 ohms resistor.

I'm a little confused and need a little help. I totally understand how to cut the wires and solder in a 2.2 ohm resister so to simulate the old circuit. I don't understand the statement below. Just a little confused why you would need different resistance. If the module is looking for 2.2 ohms then why worry about 10?

1 first measure ohm at firing terminal if has ohms . just don't cut the wire add 10 ohms resistor parallel
with the wire

Where do I measure? And how to connect in parallel?

2 if your firing circuit has no ohms . just cut the wire and add a 2.8 ohms resistor.

I have the same question as fizzkidz "Where do I measure? And how to connect in parallel?"

We are obviously noobies at this and need more guidance. Can you be more specific and if possible post with a few photos.

Thanks

I am going to try this fix on my 2007 530xi. I was wondering, does it matter what the watt rating is on the 2 ohm resister? I was just about to order a 2W, but wasn't sure if a 5W would be a better choice. My guess is that the 2W would work fine, but would the 5W be a better choice considering the summer heat?

It worked!!! I soldered in a 2 ohm 2W metal oxide power resistor that I purchased on E-Bay. I had my friend clear the codes, and now the lights on the dash are off. The iDrive warnings are gone as well. I did test the resistor before I installed it, and it measured 2.8 ohms. A thanks goes out to this forum.

Hi, Since I I have the "restraint systems faulty" error coming back (error was reset, but came back twice) apparently due to a too high resistance in the connector below the seat. They cleaned the conector, cleared the error but when I got the car back and my son sat in the seat (he did adjust is back and forth) the error was back.

I measured the BST. There is no resistance (zero Ohms) between the two black wires coming from the battery +. I cannot verify the battery + connector if there is this 1mm space because there is some sturdy black piece of plastic on it wich I cannot get of without destoying it.

Based on this: Should I install he resistor or not?
If the cause of the error is not the BST, It has to be
a. The seat mat sensor
b. a too old battery (the indicator can have 3 colours: green/fully charged, black/not fully charged / yellow/replace). It is black.

Hello
This bypass is working for the error ' 9AF4 SFZ: resistance, firing circuit, belt tensioner, driver, too high' ?
