Thank you for the excellent write-up and photos! I moved your post to the DIY section where I think more people will benefit from it.
One question though, why did you select the Exide Edge AGM FP-AGML5/49 over the others? |

Batteries Plus Bulbs had the cheapest price and didn't require a core charge or the return of my old battery. So the old battery went to a lead recycler that paid a nice core charge.

I chose to add in wiring for a little DieHard 3amp trickle charger. The images below depict Rev1 wiring. Rev2 wiring will use a different plug style, larger gauge cable and eyelets, which will allow for better jumping from compact LiON battery packs. I wonder that low battery jumping is better accomplished out front in the engine compartment, nearer the starter motor. While trickle charging could be done from either end, the losses when hooking up in front and pushing trickle current all the way back to the battery slows the charging process, in my experience.

Battery Replacement
Last month i replaced battery of my BMW 5 SERIES 520I, EXIDE MTDIN100 from BatteryBhai.com online. Their experts technition replaced it smoothly and they carry service battery also. First they installed service battery then replaced it. I asked them why they installed service battery, they told me service battery is installed because electronic system of my car remain same and i loss nothing. I'm quite impressed of using their technique for replacement of battery.
