I tried to do the procedure laid out in this forum on removing the resistors from my AUX cable. In the process, I wound up screwing up the cable (my fault). I'm going to get a new one from the dealer. Can I install it myself? It's already recognized in the I-Drive. How hard is it to do? Do I just plug it in? I've seen the actual dealer installation instructions, but it doesn't describe how to get at the actual place where you plug the cable in. Has anyone done this themselves? Should I just have the dealer do it?

Thanks!

It's cheaper to have dealer do it because of coding.

The coding was already done. As I mentioned, the AUX input worked before, I just damaged the cable.

If that the case, you can DIY.
However, you can fix the broken cable by soldering it. No need to waster another $60
If you already bought new one, can you sell me the broken one for $10?
Which part of the cable got broken?

What did you mess up? You getting any static/missing sound by any chance?

to install the new one you need to take out the radio and in the back of the radio there is a harness where you need to insert the 3 wires into pins 2, 7 and 8. Make sure you get the colors right. I'm not 100% how to take out the existing pins though without messing up the wires/harness/connectors. I'd imagine you would need something like a long so you can push the pins out of the harness <shrug>.

I'm going through the same problem right now, have a new cable on order.
