I, finally, tackle the tranny fluid change in my 530i. As the title stated, only fluid change, no tranny sump (oil pan) change. Our E60 have 2 under covers that need to be removed first to access the tranny oil pan.

1) Jack up the car from the 'Jack Pad" in the middle of the car as higher as possible. You need room to get to the under cover screws all the way to the middle of the car!!

2) Put Jack stands on each side of the car's jack point.
Passenger side:

Driver side:

3) Remove the front engine cover first. There are 4 Philips screws (blue color in my car) on each side of the bumper and 3 Philips screws just behind the center jack pad that need to be unscrewed and then 2 small clip on the driver side to be un-clipped. Then the cover will fall down with the front part still hanging to the front edge of the bumper. Pull the cover towards to the rear of the car to get the cover out.
Engine under cover:

Engine cover driver side screws:

Engine cover passenger side screws:

4) Step (3) will review the 2 8mm screws on each side of the sub-frame. These 2 screws are part of the 19 8mm screws that hold the tranny under cover.
Driver side 8mm screw:

Passenger side 8mm screw:

5) Undo all the 13 8mm screws, 2 white 8mm heat shield screws, 2 longer 8mm screws, 2 Philips screws and 1 10mm nut.
13 8mm screws:

2 white 8mm heat shield screws:

To be continue ..............
