Adam,

I paid $40 (discount price) from Circle BMW in NJ. The list price was $50.

Big problem. I have followed the instruction and now all the setting were reset. Have to take my car back to dealer. The active steering wheel Mal function warning is also ON. Perhaps I shouldn't disconnect the battery.

There's a warning on the service menu showing that the battery were disconnected and the car need to set the date too.

All the scheduling maintanance log is in warning mode too.

Mine didn't get reset except the date and time. I had no active steering so I cannot comment on that. You do have to disconnect the battery otherwise, the airbag light will stay on as mentioned by Hobi. Moreover, you don't know whether the airbag will be triggered by static or other means if the battery was still connected. All my other settings were still there after I reconnected the battery.

Maybe, Hobi can shed some light on the maintanence log issue. I had no problem with that too.

Active steering warning went off this morning. There's a record on the system info saying the need to update the time due to disconnected battery, i tried to update the date many time and it keep asking me for it. The date info do shows up on the dash console, but not on the idrove screen.

Could you tell me how can i reach Hobi? And in case i need to take the car back to dealership, maybe i should put the black trim back.

I just PMed you.

the active steering warning light is EASY to reset. You have to start your car, then turn the steering wheel ALL THE WAY ROUND TO THE LEFT as far as it goes, hold there for a second or two, then ALL TEH WAY ROUND TO THE RIGHT as far as it goes, hold there for a second or two, then centre the wheel and start driving at about 30 MPH around your block. Switch off the engine and restart the car and drive, the light will go out.

We did this on Kigerka's car when he changed his SMG levers (battery disconnected).

The warning light is there to tell you that the steering angle sensor in the steering column unit needs to be programmed with the END points of the steering rack. the above procedure is as documented by BMW in one of their Service Info guides.

Are you REALLY setting the time and date properly??? Because it only asks you once! Once you do it and confirm it, that's it...

Don't worrk about the black trim etc.. my PM tells you what to say etc..

All the Best

Hobi
