Hi.
Planning on doing my first Oil Change in a few weeks.
Is there any guides or anyone done this on a E60 3.0d? Plenty of information out there on the petrol/gas versions! Or is it the same job basically with different filter/oil?
Will do the Oil Breather, Air Filter and Pollen Microfilter while I'm at it, but plenty of guides around on that. Might clean the EGR too.
Thinking of getting the parts from BMW. Is this wise, or a waste of money?
Cheers,
Ross.

I have searched through the forums for a diesal version and found nothing. I just did it again to make sure, and read the entire "Changed the Oil in my 535i Today" thread too.
Great information there, just wondering if anyone knows if there are differences.
Tooltec, if you know of a search result that'll help, feel free to pass it on, my searches are fruitless!
Thanks.

I'm really just wondering about the job itself. Are the diesel and petrol oil changes essentially done the same.
But I'll get stuck in and figure it out!
Thanks for the tips on the filter, will look into it.

Basically the same job,the oil filter is sited on the right hand side of the engine (viewed from the front). The replacement element comes with one new O-ring for the screw-in top and a new sump plug washer.I use car ramps and get the car just high enough to get to the triangular panel for access to the sump plug.
A 2007 model needs 7.7 litres of LL-04 oil.If you don't have the capacity for your year (not given in user handbook!) ask your dealer,or you could try the BMW VIN decoder (I have not been able to use it recently) :-
