GREAT write up. I love the design of the oil filter etc. to be able to drain the filter housing is great. I used to have a Denali and changed its oil (didnt even need jacks/ramps) and it was a pain to remove the filter as oil always ran down the housing.

This looks to be very clean.

I assume the oil drain is in the back of the engine so draining on the ramps isnt an issue?

Very nice and organized write-up.

Anyone know if the dealer cares if you alternate between DIY and going to the dealer, ie at the 6K interval DIY and then at 12K get it done at the dealer ('cause its FREE)

Here's a step-by-step on my recent oil change... I hope it's useful to other 550i owners.

thanks for nice DIY!

I just used this guide to do mid-interval oil change on my 750Li lol.

They had diy oil change guide for 7series over at bimmerfest forum but it was not as detailed as this guide.

NICE JOB. I WILL BE TRYING IT THIS WEEKEND.

ANYBODY: SHOULD I USE THE RHINO RAMPS ON MY COATED/SEALED GARAGE FLOOR? OR WILL IT SLIP ON THE WAY UP?

no, as long as you have the rubber pads you're good
