because they always turn out streaky and smeary. Any secrets/hints/suggestions for easy and effective window cleaning is most appreciated.

The company who cleans the windows in my house uses Sprayway.

I too have always disliked cleaning windows, until I started using this is my car. This stuff is fantastic. Just spray it on wipe with a soft cloth and follow up with a dry soft cloth- no paper towels. No streaks period.

Here is a link a found, http://www.topoftheline.com/glasscleaner.html for some info, although I buy mine locally.

Try using a microfibre glass cloth. They absorb everything & leave no streaks (when used with a good glass cleaner).

Try Meguiar's NXT glass cleaner. Its non-ammonia based (unlike windex) and cleans streak free when used with a microfiber cloth.

Works like a charm.

I use Griot's window cleaner wipes--gets them squeaky clean and you don't get overspray on the dash, doors, etc.:

Their lint free towels work great for drying off:

Stream is right on with the Griot wipes and lint free towels. I've recetly added Griot micro-fiber window clothes and they are excellent also for streak free shine.

Great tool, but is the Windex necessary with the microfiber cloth. From what I've been reading, Windex is amonia based which may cause streaking.
Just curious, thanks !
