Bad karma...don't do it.
How are your wiper inserts...streaking you say? Take it in to the dealer to have 'em replaced...chances are, they'll do a wash for you as well.

I don't use a automatic carwash, because from my experience it scratches the paint.
So I use a high pressure water to clean all the car, and the I handwash it.. 3 weeks since last wash

Hand wash in the nice weather when the 20's are on the car. Touchless High Tech car wash just a few times during the winter with the stock 18's on the car. Find a quality car wash. You'll pay $20 - $30 but keep in mind, you get what you pay for. If you pay $10. Don't expect a $30 job. Silver grey allows me to get away with 3 or 4 washes the whole winter. It's a weekly thing when the nice wheels go on the car. I guess it's all about the wheels. Never really thought about it like that.

I've been told by the BMW dealership that if you have an XI, the control arms sit lower and they get worn from the conveyor in these car washes. You'll wind up needing to replace them.
