I thought Chamois leather was the best thing to dry the car after a wash but all i hear on this forum is microfiber cloth for that purpose, could anyone please explain this to me. and if they both do the same job then which one to go for. thanks for your help and advice.

A chamois leather is ok if you let it suck the water from the surface without moving it at all, but if you drag it on the paint it will definitely scratch the finish. A good quality microfiber cloth doesn't scratch the paint when used right. A mf cloth may also create micromarring if it's not maintained well and if it's not high quality.

I wash my MF's after every use, which for me is one a week. You can just wash them in the washing machine on cold or warm (not hot). Let them dry naturally indoors as hanging them on the clothes line will get them full of dust and crap blowing around.
