never rub it off...could be little stones in the pooh....dumb birds eat anything...i also heard that even after you rinse it off you need to neutrilise the acid form the pooh....i think they said use a little rubbing alcohol

Get to it ASAP and use a lot of water and soap. Let the poop dissolve off the car because there is usually sand in it which will scratch. You didn't say what kind if bird but some birds (geese) have a tar like poop which is harder to remove. Keeping the car waxed before the bird poops will help as well.
