My Ride: 2005 BMW 545i, Silver Grey, Sport Package, R. Shades, Cold Pkg, Sat. Rad., Prem. Sound.

When you wash with a pressure washer, how do you know how much pressure is needed? I have a 2200 psi rated PW, but I'm afraid to waste it since I might dent the car or peel the paint by accident. :'(

Anyways, on low setting and 40 degree spray, what is a safety distance?

I would personally avoid a pressure cleaner - too harsh.
Is there a difference in result or is it a convenience thing ?

How about those "No touch" car washes? are those harmful in any way? Like the ones that use a high pressure water gun and go over the whole car.
Or the self service car wash where you drop a few coins and you start washing your car away yourself, would the pressure be bad on those?

Would these take any wax coats off?

Although a 2200 PSI pressure washer is not an animal, it still has enough umpfff to do damage to your car. Why take a chance, big hassle when a garden horse will do the job.
