This detail was rough! My friend's dad's Volvo V70 XC 2001, solid black.
It was outside detailing only.

I have to say I couldn't give my best this time. There was very deep scratches and swirls around the car, not mention gentle bumps here and there.
I could only do.... hmmm.... let us say 75-80% correction. Most of swirls are gone, but some deep swirls and scratches still remain.

I tried different pads and compounds, and the harshest ones I had along with me were Lake Country CCS Yellow (cutting) + Presta Ultra Cutting Creme. Even two passes with them didn't do it, and I would have had to do another pass with some not so aggressive combo after them. So I figured that my time wouldn't be enough for it. I would have needed a rotary and some compound with very aggressive cut!

I wondered the problem a while and decided to try what an orange (light cutting) pad and Menzerna PO85RD 3.02 could do. The result was almost the same cut as with yellow pad + Presta UCC, but the finish was much better! Then I did another pass with white (polishing) pad and Menzerna PO106FA, but it didn't improve the finish much. So I concluded to do a whole car with orange + PO85RD combo only. I was a bit disappointed as you can guess...

Well, the overall finish improved a lot compared to what I started with, and I'm semi happy. My friend collected the car later while I wasn't present, and he called back to thank me. He was satisfied with it, but I already warned him about the sun, which will reveal the deep scratches. I hope his dad accepts the outcome.

The process was:

1) Pre-wash
- Korrek Lensitil BR Solvent Wash Spray
- Bilt-Hamber Autofoam

2) Wash
- Turtle Wax Big Orange
- Two bucket method + Mother's Sheepskin Mitts + sponges

3) Claying
- Zaino Z-18 clay
- Turtle Wax Big Orange as lubricant

4) Polish
- Several shots with different combos
---> Lake Country CCA Orange pad + Menzerna PO85RD 3.02

5) Wax
- Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine
- Collinite 915 (Anzafin edition LOL)

6) Tires, plastics, aluminium parts
- Autoglym Instant Tyre Dressing
- Autoglym Bumper Care
- Turtle Wax Chrome Polish

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Befores (I should have taken overall before pictures, the car was dirty!):

Preparing for polishing:

- "Press play on tape"

- Average readings were approx 125?m

Under the halogens after a wash and clay:

- The mirrors were very dim! Maybe it was an option: Automatically dimming mirrors hahaha!

- Deep longitudinal scratches on the roof

- Apparently a bear has tried entering the car someday!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

During polishing:

- The hood 50/50. Lots of tiny rock chips as you can see!

- Rear right fender 50/50

Wow, obviously a bear had washed the car too previously. Judging by the long straight scratches on the roof!
