Hey for those of you who dont use the "cheap" zymol, which one do you use?

GotBMW Jul 3, 2004 04:34 PM

Heck that's nothing. Zymol now makes a wax that cost $6,000 USD.

alohalc Jul 3, 2004 05:11 PM

i think if you could get lifetime refills from them, the price isn't too bad. especially for the professional detailers. but i'm wondering about the smell of your hands after waxing. maybe girls won't let you touch them again :P.

GotBMW Jul 3, 2004 05:25 PM

Actually I use the Zymol Destiny and after washing your hands there really isn't a smell.

Rudy Jul 3, 2004 05:51 PM

I've used zymol Concours and it smells like coconuts. I don't know if they still make it but back when I used it, each container had a handwritten serial number and it was signed by the owner of the company (I forget his name -- Rich something?)

Anyway, you're supposed to actually apply this wax directly to the car with your bare hands (no applicator). For days later, your hands smell like the beach!

On that second link, I'd use pinnacle souveran wax, P21s carnauba or Meguiars #16. Following a clay bar and a nice polish with one of these waxes will leave you happy.

Also in that link, check out Klasse AIO and Klasse SG. If you prep your paint properly and follow it with the 2-step Klasse system, you'll be good for around 5-6 months.

Zaino products are the favorites on the other forum I belong to. Anyone use Zaino?

Rudy Aug 1, 2004 08:34 PM

It's funny how the only time I've heard of Zaino is on that other forum. Aren't they advertisers there? I think it's more of a polish than a wax so as far as protection, I don't think it offers too much.

Oh well, all I can say is I've never used it and probably never will. I remember Lomag using it when he first got his car and I remember that he was impressed with the shine.

JDN Aug 2, 2004 02:35 AM

It was impeccable, especially on the the Mystic Blue. I think that might be Lomag's car in the Gallery. Wonder if he still has those shots of his car right after he Zainoed it?

Rudy Aug 2, 2004 05:55 AM

I'll bet he does. (You could probably do a search on RF to see it too.)

I'm still wondering if other car polishes would yield similar results on a brand new car. The Mystic Blue is a beautiful color with a deep shine. I find it hard to believe that Zaino is that much better than offerings from other companies -- if it was, wouldn't we be hearing about it much more?
