I'm exploring orbital polishers, and came across the "Ultimate Detailing Machine" sold on Autogeek.net.

Is anyone familiar with it and know how it compares to the Porter Cable or Griot orbitals?
Thanks,
Lou

Have you checked out Autoia's UDM Forum? Generally very good reviews for it there.
If I was starting fresh on purchasing detailing equipment (I have the Griot's random orbital and a rotary), I would seriously consider the UDM.
WARNING: Once you start down the path of polishing you own E60i, it can never been shiny enough ... talk about an addiction.

Interestingly, Zaino doesn't recommend using orbitals.

I don't recommend it because you waste too much polish that way. The pad on an eleven inch polisher can absorb almost enough polish to coat your entire vehicle. Each time you use an orbital to apply Zaino polish, you are probably wasting as much polish, if not more than you actually applied to the car.
Zaino polish applies easily by hand, especially if you dampen the applicator pad with water and spritz it with Z-6 before applying it.

My Ride: 535d Sport, carbon black, media pack, visibility pack, grey leather, heated seats, sun protection glass, voice control, Eibach ProKit, 19" 166 style wheels, e-maps ECU remap to 325hp and 640NM, top speed limiter removed
I am using it and think it's pretty good. (apart from the too easily caught "on" switch)
Can't comment about the Porter in comparison, as the UDM is the first machine I've used
